I said it's open!

[The knocking doesn't stop so Squall tries to pull his pants up and he manages to but then he leaves the bedroom and hurries to get the door he takes the curve to quickly and his foot hits the leather pants and he slips. The crash of him falling to the floor is loud enough to probably be heard outside as he went face down on the ground, pants pulled down to his knees.]

F-Fuck! RUFUS JUST OPEN THE DOOR!

[His face hurts and he really hopes he didn't just break his nose, there isn't blood so he should be fine but damn he must have some kinda extra mark there.]

[The door opens and Darkstar bounds in, going straight to Squall because this is the one who gave him meat, so he gets checked out!

Rufus follows after his dog, mildly concerned.]

Squall?

[His face is very red and there is a noticeable bump on his forehead when Darkstar and Rufus enter his home. He sits up and tosses the pants off that made him trip, they were basically off anyway. Now he's just sitting there in nothing but his necklace and black boxer briefs as he rubs at his face.]

I said it was open. Do you have hearing issues I should know about?

[He stands up and makes his way over to the bathroom to his first aid kit to grab something for his splitting headache and to get a damp washcloth to place against his head.]

Man that hurts....

[He comes back out, still undressed and goes to pick up the pants he tossed.]

Sorry about...this. [Yeah he's gesturing to himself.]

[Casually admiring that ass--]

D was barking in excitement and wouldn't calm down. It's hard to hear much of anything over that.

[Stare all you want Rufus. He is too oblivious and tryingt o stop the swelling on his forehead to notice.]

[He holds out his hand which starts to glow a little green]

I can just cast without an object but it takes energy out of me in exchange. My worlds are both different then yours...but at least it doesn't fuck with my memory anymore.

[He's just not gonna expand on that right now. Instead he removes the cloth after awhile and yeah there is a little bump on his head.]

So....how you been?

[Yeah, not gonna ask. He is going to marvel at the magic without materia for a moment, though.]

Interesting. It's been...fine, for lack of a better word. A little weird, but nothing unmanageable.

[He misses his Turks.]

[If you like looking at it wait till he uses magic on you Rufus]

Lonely?

[He asks more like a statement rather than a question.]

From what I've been told you know a lot of people here but aren't on good terms with them so...I assume that must be really lonely.

[He gets up and heads over to Darkstar to finally bend down for some head pats.]

Oh, did those clothes fit? I have others you can borrow for now if you need.

[Rufus would like to know who gave Squall permission to call him out like this. At least he's good at keeping his face mostly neutral?]

They fit well enough, thank you. And you're correct, the only people I'm on even slightly good terms with is my brother and possibly Cloud. Or at least he isn't trying to kill me, so I'll take that as a win.

Then come into the bedroom with me. I need to dress and you can grab whatever you like.

[He gets up, walking to the bedroom and then looking back at Rufus]

You might look cute in something oversized, your brother does all the time.

[Once in the bedroom he throws on a plain shirt and some joggers.]

Have you taken my advice and talked to Cloud and Aerith?

[That question gets Rufus to frown, even as he follows Squall. He leans against the doorframe.]

Why do you care so much about what I do?

[Squall just sighs as he ties off his pants and then looks at Rufus' annoyed face. Man this guy really sometimes reminds him of Seifer a little, just a little.]

You're frustrating. You clearly need friends and help but yet you seem to be against doing something that could actually help yourself.

[He moves closer to Rufus, entering his personal space, arms crossed over his chest.]

Call it dumb or whatever but I want to help. I see someone who needs help and I just can't stand by and do nothing. You aren't my enemy personally, though I'm still not happy you won't just apologize to Cloud and Aerith. Still, your pretty alone here and that kind of makes me sad. I was alone when I came here as well, saw faces I knew who didn't recognize me and it hurt. I could have closed off, probably should have but for once I didn't and now I have people who genuinely care about me. I'm not saying change yourself entirely or go open up to everyone you meet but just being a little less guarded would help. We are encouraged to be peaceful here, people aren't going to just attack you and risk that. Take it or not but that's my advice.

[and hes leaning in more, grey eyes taking Rufus in for a moment.]

If it helps, think of this place as a second chance. You might find someone who takes your breath away that you would have never found back on your world.

[The difference between Rufus and Seifer is that Rufus has at least a decade if not more life experience than the other, and he's very very good at picking his battles and knowing what to say and what not to say. Even if saying "you're alone here and that kind of makes me sad" was probably not something to say to his face. It feels like pity, and Rufus hates that.

Still, he doesn't look offended or anything. He doesn't even move out of Squall's invasion of his space. Clearly Squall needs this...rant or whatever you'd call it and frankly at least it's out of some sense of concern. He thinks.]

I only arrived a few days ago, Squall. Let's not jump straight to trying to unlearn thirty-odd years or finding someone who "takes my breath away", alright?

[As if that'd ever happen.]

For what it's worth, though, I did in fact speak to Cloud. It wasn't my intention, but when I complimented him on his choice of boyfriend, he wanted to know what we talked about.

[It is out of concern, even if a little misguided]

Alright, alright. I mean I'm not trying to push you to go find someone right away just..I mean...don't push it away either but yeah go at your own pace.

[Hearing he talked to Cloud does actually make him feel better and he actually seems to relax around Rufus a bit more of that.]

You talked to Cloud? Rufus why didn't you say something sooner? [He pauses a minute and cocks his head to the side in confusion.] Wait...complimented his boyfriend? You...complimented me? Why?

["Because I don't have to give you an account of my actions". Honestly.

Rufus shrugs.]

Because you're protective. That's admirable--but I am not going anywhere near Miss Gainsborough unless she or Cloud indicate it would be welcome.

[Look.]

[Well thats the first time he's heard that in awhile really. He's actually kind of surprised and it shows on his face.]

You mean I'm overbearing right? I don't think most like how protective I can be....I try not to but..it kinda goes against my nature not to be.

[He pouts a bit]

I can't fault you for wanting to make sure it's okay to see her so...yeah okay that's fine. I'll stop asking. I am really happy you talked to Cloud though....

I think he was touched. He wanted to know what we talked about and to hear what I had to say on it.

Oh, yeah I mean. I don't know what I was expecting him to say honestly outside of that. [Is he a little disappointed? Maybe, he's trying not to let it show though.]
